Join the Sparta Association for a community litter clean-up with help from Ossining Stash the Trash volunteers.
Meet-up Location
Jug Tavern at 9:00 AM
Volunteers will gather here to pick up clean-up supplies, along with a cup of coffee and donuts. Additional snacks to share are welcome.
What to Bring
Your own water bottle. Water refills will be provided.
Your own gloves, if you have them.
Trash grabbers, if you have them.
Clean-up Areas
We’ll be cleaning up along Revolutionary, Sparta Brook Stream, and the park area behind CVS, with teams branching out to Rockledge, Hudson, and Spring Streets.

Pumpkin carving at the Jug! Activities appropriate for all levels. Some pumpkins can be left to decorate the Jug, or take them for your own stoop! Mulled cider will be provided.

Carving tools provided (specialty tools you prefer welcome)

Before you start your official Trick-or-Treating rounds of Historic Sparta, stop by the Jug Tavern to receive your safety light-up gear so you and your family can safely navigate the neighborhood and be seen in the car. The Jug can also be your first stop for trick-or-treat candy/snacks. Also pick up your Sparta Trick-or-Treat map, where we list neighbors who specifically have signed up to pass out candy!

We've submitted a 2025-2026 Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Survey of the Sparta neighborhood to the Ossining Village for this year's budget review season. In the meantime, the survey is still open if you think of anything else you want to add for next year's submission.
Membership dues help the Sparta Association accomplish important administration for our neighborhood! Below are a few examples of what we need membership dues for. You can join or renew at any time. We will proactively ask all neighbors to renew their memberships at the annual meeting in March of each year.
PO Box rental
Domain, email, and website costs
Annual traffic report preparations
Copies, print-outs, signs, etc.
Annual membership mailings and invitations
Stash the trash supplies
Community gathering event supplies (summer gathering, winter gathering)
Legal registration fees for our organization

Many thanks to everyone who showed up throughout the morning on Sunday, May 3rd to assist with the neighborhood clean-up, working together to keep Sparta beautiful! We were joined by our NY State Legislator, Dana Levenberg, whose office is down Revolutionary Rd.
